With more energy price hikes coming into effect later this year there is no better time than now to replace your old non-efficient boiler. Old boilers are far less efficient than modern condensing boilers. Since April 2007 all boilers that have been installed have had to be modern high efficiency boilers. By replacing your boiler with an ‘A’ rated boiler will give you saving around 40% a year on your heating bills.

The reason modern boilers are far more efficient is that they convert over 90% of the fuel into heat where as older boilers only convert around 60%. This is down to a clever design feature on these new boilers. Condensing boilers do just this they condense. They have an extra heat exchanger that captures the waste gases and converts it back to reusable energy. With non-condensing Cv ketel vervangen this gas is ejected out of the flue which is the same thing as a chimney. This is a complete waste of energy. Also older boilers develop inefficiencies over time.

These type of boilers can be either combi, system or open vent boiler. This means that whatever system you currently have can be replaced with an energy efficient condensing boiler. The type of boiler system you need to replace it with will depend on the size of your home and he amount of bathrooms you have. If you live in a standard 2 or 3 bedroom home, with just one bathroom, a condensing combi boiler is best suited for your needs. If you have more bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms as well as a main bathroom you will probably need to go for a system or open vent boiler. Either way you will be getting a condensing boiler which will save you money.

If you already have a modern condensing boiler there are still ways you can cut your heating bills. Try delay turning it on when the summer ends. Most people tend to put their heating on in October but by delaying this till November will give you quite significant savings. Also just by turning your boiler down just a few degrees will have an effect on your bills. Having your home properly insulated will also give help to cut your bills. Without the right amount of insulation you are effectively throwing away your heat. Heat rises and if your attic is not insulated properly then the heat will escape.
